QUIRE Belfast members at Various Voices Dublin 2014Why join Quire?

We like to think that by joining Quire, you aren't just becoming part of a singing group - you're joining a family. With its LGBT community roots, Quire has always sought to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere so that anyone can find an avenue to explore their musical side and of course make new friends.

Quire typically stages one major concert performance each year however this is subject to change depending on the agenda decided by Quires Committee. In addition, Quire also receive requests to perform at various events including Belfast Pride, Transgender Day and performing at weddings to name a few!

You will however need to be able to commit to a rehearsal schedule. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday nights in the hall of All Souls Church on Elmwood Avenue, Belfast from 7pm - 9pm. Whilst this sounds like hard work, ultimately it leads to a wonderful sense of achievement when it all comes together on show night and we receive positive feedback from our friends and followers.

We are a very social group too! We try to organise get togethers amongst our sections as well as the entire choir to include the likes of dinners and nights out throughout the year for both members and their partners. In addition to this we currently hold a fantastic team building residential weekend each year which is usually held in Ballylinney Cottages on the beautiful Antrim coast.

QUIRE Belfast members at Various Voices Dublin 2014When do rehearsals take place?

Quire's schedule typically follows that of the school year in that we take a summer break in the months of July and August with the exception of an evening to hold our AGM. Rehearsals take place on a Wednesday evening from 7pm-9pm in the hall of All Souls Church on Elmwood Avenue, Belfast.

There are occasions when we may require additional rehearsals for example on the run up to a performance but these are announced in advance to allow as many members as possible to attend.

Quire members are also expected to spend some time practising between rehearsals.

Whilst we appreciate that members attend Quire on a voluntary basis, it is very important that we utilise the 2 hours we have for practice therefore we ask that punctuality is given importance to allow us get started on time and make the most of our rehearsals.
